Bat surveys in East Anglia

2019 was another very busy year for our bat ecologists. We completed Preliminary Roost Assessments (PRA) and subsequent nocturnal presence/absence surveys at innumerable sites and successfully obtained Natural England European Protected Species (EPS) mitigation licences for many projects. Richard is a Natural England licenced Registered Consultant (RC) for the Bat Mitigation Class Licence (BMCL) scheme which enables a streamlined process for licencing when bat roosts of only low conservation significance have been found. Richard registered a number of sites for clients under the BMCL in 2019. We also used advanced bat survey techniques at a number of sites including mist-netting and radio-tracking, conducted hibernation surveys and our tree-climbing team found several roosts!
